Approaching a possible customer directly is known as Direct Marketing and is considered by many to be one of the most cost effective ways of doing business. There are many ways of doing Direct Marketing. Direct marketing methods include direct mail, telemarketing, inserts, door to door distribution, fax-broadcasting and electronic media. We focus on mailing lists as well as email lists here.

Mailing lists are generally divided into two categories; business and consumer. Lists are generally rented. You pay for one time use. If you use the list again then you usually have to pay another fee. Sometimes you can buy the list outright, though this is usually expensive. Most of the mailing lists here give postal address, the business lists usually include a phone number as well. 	You can buy a list of business names and addresses. Choose by category (they have an exhaustive list of different kinds of businesses). For instance they have list of gift shops totalling 5,043.
Prices are dependent upon quantity and or the complexity of the selection. Most lists however, work out at between £110 and £135 per 1000 for single use and between £250 and £360 per 1000 for multiple use.A minimum order charge may apply for small quantities.
